Position:                     Staff Environmental Scientist – Columbia, SC

Three Oaks Engineering, Inc. is seeking a full-time Environmental Scientist in our Columbia, SC office to join our expanding natural resource group. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Biology or a closely related field with 1-5 years of experience is preferred.  The applicant must be able to perform jurisdictional delineations, a Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) is preferred.  The candidate must have excellent field scientist skills with demonstrated experience working effectively both independently and in a collaborative scientific environment to achieve project deadlines.  Proven ability to perform in adverse field and weather conditions throughout a variety of aquatic and terrestrial habitats is a must.  If not already experienced in aquatic sampling techniques must be willing to learn.  The position will require travel, often with short notice, and overnight stays in various locations, primarily in the Carolinas. Specific preferred experience includes:

  • Wetland delineations
  • Development of Jurisdictional Determination packages for USACE
  • Development of Section 404 Permit packages for USACE
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS
  • Conceptual Mitigation Plan Development
  • Environmental compliance monitoring
  • Familiarity with South Carolina Federal and State agencies
