DURHAM, NC, July 6, 2014 — Three Oaks Engineering announced today that Mary Frazer has joined the woman-owned Durham, North Carolina-based engineering firm as an environmental scientist and will lead the firm’s new service line of rare bat surveys.
Frazer brings more than 20 years of professional experience to Three Oaks, including 15 years at the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where she worked to assist the Department in complying with the federal Endangered Species Act (ESA) through threatened and endangered species surveys, consultations with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and conservation efforts. Frazer holds state and federal recovery permits for the collection of rare bats, including the northern long-eared bat, which was listed as a threatened species under the ESA in April 2015. She is co-chair of the North Carolina Bat Working Group, which works to promote the conservation of bats and their habitats in North Carolina through education and collaborative study.
“Mary is a great asset to our team,” said Three Oaks principal Michael Wood. “She is an accomplished biologist whose addition will allow us to offer our clients a broader suite of protected species services, including consulting with the natural resource agencies, assessing potential habit, and conducting formal surveys for rare bats.”
Three Oaks president Suzanne Unger Young added, “We are excited to welcome Mary to our growing team. Her passion for her work and commitment to sustainability are a perfect fit for Three Oaks.”
