Three Oaks on Teams for Two SCDOT Selections

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) recently selected Three Oaks Engineering to perform as-needed National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) work as part of a three-year NEPA & Permitting Services On-Call Contract awarded to Tidewater Environmental Services Inc.  We are looking forward to working with our Team members as one of a small group of firms selected for work on challenging projects for SCDOT.

We are also pleased to announce the selection of the team led by Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering (ICE) to prepare the Environmental Assessment and Preliminary Design for the Widening of I-85 in Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties, South Carolina.  Three Oaks is excited to be chosen to lead the NEPA portion of this fast-track and high-profile 16-mile widening project that includes upgrading several interchanges.

Today, the League of American Bicyclists recognized Three Oaks Engineering with a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Business (BFBSM) award, joining more than 800 visionary businesses from across the country.

With the announcement of 150 new and renewing BFBs today in 39 states and Washington, D.C., Three Oaks joins a cutting-edge group of more than 800 local businesses, government agencies and Fortune 500 companies across the United States that are transforming the American workplace.

“Visionary business leaders are recognizing the real-time and long term impact that a culture of bicycling can create,” said Andy Clarke, President of the League of American Bicyclists. “We applaud this new round of businesses for investing in a more sustainable future for the country and a healthier future for their employees.”

“The proximity of the American Tobacco Campus to bicycle and transit routes was a significant factor in our decision to locate here,” said Three Oaks president, Suzanne Unger Young. Three Oaks encourages bicycling as an easy option for transportation and provides amenities such as free bike tune-ups, route planning assistance, guaranteed ride home, and safe bike storage, and incentives such as free breakfasts for bike commuters.  “I love wrenching for my co-workers and encouraging them to get out and ride,” said Three Oaks bicycling coordinator, Craig Young.

Moving forward, Three Oaks will have access to a variety of free tools and technical assistance from the League to become even more bicycle-friendly. When our employees bike, great things happen: in addition to decreasing our carbon footprint and staying active, it promotes a fun and healthy work culture.
